Creating an Online Course w/ Squarespace 7.1 Course Pages
After years of having to host courses on Squarespace using Membership areas and video pages, you can now host online courses in Squarespace using Course pages!
Course pages give you all of the functionality of a typical guided course software, including the ability to add multiple chapters and different videos inside of a chapter, the ability to add additional information to a single video course listing (i.e. downloadable related resources), adding a course overview page that outlines each chapter in detail and includes a progress indicator for each module and the overall course, and a built-in customizable paywall page.
Adding a Course page
To add a new Course page, click the add (+) button in Pages, and select “Course.”
Editing course page settings
To access the general and advanced settings of a course page, click on the gear icon next to the course page name to open the settings modal. You can edit the page title, URL, page header code injection, and course summary.
4 different parts of a course page
Course pages are organized into 4 parts:

1. Pricing Plans
You can add and edit pricing plans for your course by selecting it in the left sidebar.
This will open the pricing plans modal which will allow you to edit details, pricing, products, and sign up limits.
Details Tab
The details tab includes things like pricing plan name, description, and included benefits. The included benefits are what will be displayed when you add a digital product block to a page.
Pricing Tab
Here you can edit the pricing for this plan by making it a fixed amount, subscription fee, or even free. The fixed amount can be done in one payment or you can additional payment options if you want to let users pay in more than one payment.
Included Products
You can add additional digital products that you want included in the course, such as member areas and video pages.
Sign up Limits
Here you can edit sign up limits. This means if you want to limit the dates that people can sign up for your course, you can, or if you want people to sign up year round, you can toggle this option to “off.”
2. Paywall
The paywall page is what will be shown if the user visits your course page while being logged out. Nothing much to edit here except for the headline and the description.
3. Course Overview
The course overview page is where users can view their course progress, see an overview of all chapters and lesson in your course, and access each lesson.
You can add additional page sections to this page, but the main page section that shows the chapter and lesson details is automatically added and cannot be deleted.
4. Course Content
This is where you can add and edit the course content, including videos, custom thumbnails, lesson and chapter titles, URLs, and more. You even have the option to bulk delete and set the status of the lessons.
You can click into each individual listing to open it’s content page. On the various content pages, you can add additional data below the video, including related downloadable resources, links to external resources, and more.
So, what do you think of Squarespace’s Courses feature? will you be hosting your own course on the platform instead of relying on video pages or platform other than Squarespace?
