Does Squarespace Let You Edit HTML?

You cannot directly edit the base HTML code of a Squarespace site using code, but you can edit the HTML indirectly by changing the various customization options that Squarespace allows us, such as adding different text blocks, image blocks, grid layouts, and more, and changing the color of text and background in Squarespace.

Other Ways to Customize with Code

While you cannot access the HTML of a Squarespace site, you can still customize your site with code via code blocks, page header code injection, site header code injection, site footer code injection, and the Custom CSS editor. If you know or you are an advanced web developer, you can also dynamically change the DOM of your Squarespace site using JavaScript. In fact, this is how many third-party Squarespace plugins are created. However, I do not recommend doing this on your own unless you have had extensive experience working with the Squarespace platform and studying the code base behind Squarespace templates; otherwise, you could break your site by manipulating the DOM with JavaScript.
