A Complete Guide to Squarespace 7.1 Video Pages
Video pages are a relatively new addition to the Squarespace 7.1 platform - they are not part of the Squarespace 7.0 platform. For businesses that have a need to showcase their work through video (short films, videography, video editing, etc.), Squarespace’s Video Pages are a great option, so in this article, I’ll be explaining video page features and limitations.
How To Add a Video Page in Squarespace 7.1
Navigate to Pages.
In the Main Navigation or Not Linked section, click the plus (+) button.
Select Videos from the dropdown menu.
Edit the page settings as you would normally do (URL, page title, SEO info, featured image, etc.)
Video Page Organization
Video pages are organized similarly to the other collection pages. They are organized into two parts, the main video list view, and the individual video detail pages, just like blog pages.
Categories
You can even group videos into different categories, which makes navigating the video pages very user-friendly. You can access categories by selecting the gear icon to open the settings modal, and then going to the Categories tab.
Squarespace will allow you to upload up to 30-minutes-worth of videos directly to Squarespace and display them to your site visitors, or if you need more storage space, you can subscribe to Member Areas. You can even include YouTube and Vimeo videos in addition to uploading your own video files (mp4).
Video Page Design
You can edit the video list view page design by clicking the EDIT button in the upper left-hand corner, hover over the page section, and click EDIT SECTION. You can edit things such as the column count, horizontal and vertical spacing, image placement and spacing, category sidebar, and more.
You can also edit each individual video page by clicking the EDIT button in the upper left-hand corner, hovering over page section, and clicking EDIT SECTION. You can edit things such as the page section color, text alignment, which fields to show on the page, and more.
Applications of Squarespace Video Pages
Video pages can be used for a plethora of things. You can create video portfolios for projects, Squarespace-hosted online courses, and more.
